چکیده

A graphite powder disk sandwiched between two nickel screens was used as a lithium-insertion working electrode. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), galvanostatic intermittent titration (GIT) using pulsed microcurrent, and in-situ intrinsic resistance measurements were used for the evaluation of kinetics and intrinsic (i.e. physical) resistance changes during charge–discharge cycling from room temperature to elevated temperatures. The investigation of the thermal stability of the electrolyte at elevated temperature used an EIS study of a palladium electrode in the electrolyte. EIS measurements for electrochemical reaction and intrinsic resistances of a graphite electrode show that the first high-frequency depressed semicircle is due to the ‘solid electrolyte interphase’ (SEI) film, although it is also influenced by the electrode contact impedance. The growth of the SEI film on the MCMB 10-28 graphite electrode surface with cycling, results in a decline in kinetic rate and a corresponding increase in contact resistance giving rapid capacity fade. The high stability of the capacity of JM 287 electrodes is due to the slow increase in SEI film thickness on their surfaces. Although new SEI films were formed on the originals at elevated temperature, the kinetics were still more rapid than at room temperature in the initial cycling. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Improved Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Artificial Graphite Anode Using Water-Based Binders in Lithium-Ion Batteries

In recent years, many studies have focused on the active materials of anodes to improve the performance of LIBs, while limited attention has been given to polymer binders, which act as inactive ingredients. However, polymer binders have amazing influence on the electrochemical performance of anodes. Herein, to investigate the binding performance between MCMB artificial graphite and the copper c...

Photothermally reduced graphene as high-power anodes for lithium-ion batteries.

Conventional graphitic anodes in lithium-ion batteries cannot provide high-power densities due to slow diffusivity of lithium ions in the bulk electrode material. Here we report photoflash and laser-reduced free-standing graphene paper as high-rate capable anodes for lithium-ion batteries. Photothermal reduction of graphene oxide yields an expanded structure with micrometer-scale pores, cracks,...

A nanoporous metal recuperated MnO2 anode for lithium ion batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been intensively studied to meet the increased demands for the high energy density of portable electronics and electric vehicles. The low specific capacity of the conventional graphite based anodes is one of the key factors that limit the capacity of LIBs. Transition metal oxides, such as NiO, MnO2 and Fe3O4, are known to be promising anode materials that are e...

Conductive Additive for Si/Mesoporous Carbon Anode for Li-Ion Batteries: Commercial Graphite vs Super C65 Arlavinda Rezqita

Silicon is a promising candidate for anodes in lithium-ion batteries (LIB) due to its high theoretical capacity. However, Si has low electrical conductivity (theoretical: 6.7 x 10 S cm). Proper conductive additive is needed in order to improve the electrical conductivity of Si-based anodes. Here we focus on applying two commercial conductive addictives: graphite and carbon black Super C65 for s...

New nanostructured Li2S/silicon rechargeable battery with high specific energy.

Rechargeable lithium ion batteries are important energy storage devices; however, the specific energy of existing lithium ion batteries is still insufficient for many applications due to the limited specific charge capacity of the electrode materials. The recent development of sulfur/mesoporous carbon nanocomposite cathodes represents a particularly exciting advance, but in full battery cells, ...

Voltage increase of aqueous lithium-ion batteries by Li-ion conducting Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 glass-ceramic

In this research, a lithium ion conducting lithium aluminum germanium phosphate (LAGP) glass-ceramic with a formula of Li1.5Al0.5Ge1.5(PO4)3 was synthesized by melt-quenching method and subsequent crystallization at 850 °C for 8 h. The prepared glass-ceramic was characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The XRD patterns exhib...
